The Self Propelled Emplaced Artillery Rifle was supposed to be the next BASR rifle to be made. Unfortunately due to some design problems and technical errors, they scraped the idea of another BASR and focused on creating another round. Thus the .76 Cal was created.
In order to use the .76 Cal EO, they have to create another rifle. By using the left over designs from the BASR project, the SPAR rifle was created.
Gun testers of G.S.C took note that the rifle has extremely strong recoil and the Gen 3 BASR scope could not be reached. In order to fix this, the Gun smiths placed a tripod, recoil reducers, a powerful spring, and a new kind of optics (Felix Digital Cam-Scope). Renaming the rifle the SPEAR.
This weapon is used in vehicles for Anti Tank/Garrison purposes, if not then soldiers with Exo-Suits or Mech suits could use this as an alternative sniper rifle.
